What We Believe
The following are the core beliefs of Family Life Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is true – every word of it. It is our guide for belief and living.
"Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:20-21

God
We believe in God, eternal and existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Spirit. God is infinite in every positive trait there is: goodness, wisdom, power, love, and more!
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19

Jesus
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He died on the cross to pay for our sins, and only by believing in Him can we have life.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” John 1:1-5

In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” John 1:1-5
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third member of the Trinity. He convicts us of sin, dwells within believers, helps us learn God’s truths, and seals us so that we belong to God forever.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17
The Spirit World
We believe God created the spirit world. This includes angels, who serve God and minister to us. We also believe God created Satan and his angels, once God’s servants, now God’s enemies, who oppose God’s work in this world.
“Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:14
“He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.” Matthew 10:1

“He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.” Matthew 10:1
Man
God created Adam and Eve totally perfect, but they fell through sin. As their descendants, we all bear the sin nature.
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27
Salvation
A person is saved from the eternal penalty of sin by believing in Christ’s death on the cross. When we accept His death for our sins, we are made alive spiritually and are able to serve God with our lives. We will continue to sin, but will never lose the salvation which Christ paid for.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
The Church
God uses the church, both local and universal, to teach the gospel of salvation to all the world. The church is vital, because in the church body we learn, worship, fellowship, and reach others for Christ.
“And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:18
“And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:18
The Family
God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is comprised of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime.
"For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24
"For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24
Last Days and Eternity
God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” Hebrews 9:27-28
